The Kasanggayahan Festival 2026 is expected to take place throughout October 2026 in Sorsogon Province. According to the Tourism Promotions Board, the festival commemorates the founding of Sorsogon as a separate province from Albay and is considered the province’s largest annual cultural celebration.
The word “Kasanggayahan” comes from a Sorsoganon term meaning prosperity, happiness, and abundance. The festival highlights local culture, agricultural products, traditional dances, and community celebrations across the province.
Today, Kasanggayahan Festival is recognized as one of the biggest celebrations in the Bicol Region.

Sorsogon officially became a separate province from Albay on October 17, 1894, and the festival was created to commemorate this historical milestone.
Over the years, the festival evolved into a month-long event featuring:
One of the festival’s most famous highlights is the Pantomina sa Tinampo, a traditional Bicolano courtship dance performed in the streets of Sorsogon.
In 2019, Sorsogon earned a Guinness World Record for the largest Filipino folk dance performance with thousands of participants performing the Pantomina simultaneously.
Local contingents from municipalities across Sorsogon participate in colorful dance competitions showcasing local traditions and creativity.
